The 1700SS and1800SS Series Semi-Con Scorers have adjustable blade depth with a locking set screw for scoring (scribing) the semi-conductive shield of high-voltage cable so the semi-con can be removed without nicking or damaging the cable insulation.

This is a good product. I believe it to be easier and faster than the banana peeler style. Pretty much fool proof.

I really like this tool for scoring the outer jacketing on cable. It’s not my favorite for scoring semiconductor, but it definitely works, especially coupled with a heat gun. It’s very simple to use, and turning the proper direction becomes a natural movement pretty fast. I would say the main advantage over the banana peeler would be the larger range of each model, as it takes 3 BP models to cover the same range as two surfboards.
