The Tall-arita
Built Different
A bold bourbon-forward twist on the classic margarita featuring Tallman 75th Reserve Indiana Straight Bourbon Whiskey, fresh lime, orange liqueur, and smoked agave for a bright citrus finish with serious backbone.
Why “The Tall-arita”?
Because sometimes the best upgrades come from rebuilding the original with stronger materials.
The Tall-arita takes the familiar margarita structure and swaps tequila for Tallman 75th Reserve Bourbon, adding smoked agave and fresh citrus for a cocktail that’s brighter, richer, and far more interesting than it has any business being.
Method:
- Prepare the glass with a half salt-and-smoked-sugar rim.
- Add bourbon, lime juice, orange liqueur, and smoked agave syrup to a shaker with ice.
- Shake hard until thoroughly chilled.
- Strain over fresh ice in a double rocks glass.
- Garnish with lime wheel or charred lime wedge.
Tallman Tip:
Use fresh lime juice and a good orange liqueur.
Cheap sour mix tastes like fluorescent cleaning supplies and broken trust.
Also:
don’t overdo the smoked agave.
The smoke should whisper, not deliver a TED Talk.
What You’ll Taste:
- Bright fresh lime
- Smooth bourbon caramel
- Orange citrus sweetness
- Light smoky agave
- Crisp clean finish
Refreshing enough for summer.
Structured enough for bourbon drinkers.
Pairs Well With:
- Street tacos
- Smoked chicken
- Grilled shrimp
- Chips and queso
- Telling someone “this bourbon margarita thing shouldn’t work” immediately before ordering a second one
