The Brown Hardhat reimagines the classic Brown Derby cocktail with Tallman 75th Reserve Bourbon, fresh grapefruit, and a touch of smoke for a drink that feels bright, strong, and unmistakably substantial.
Because reliability never goes out of style.
Method:
- Add bourbon, grapefruit juice, honey syrup, and bitters to a shaker with ice.
- Shake hard until thoroughly chilled.
- Strain over a large clear ice cube in a rocks glass.
- Lightly torch the rosemary sprig for a subtle smoky aroma.
- Garnish with rosemary and grapefruit peel.
Not enough smoke to feel theatrical. Just enough to make somebody ask: “Why is this better than every bourbon drink I normally order?”
Tallman Tip:
Use fresh grapefruit juice. Pre-bottled grapefruit juice tastes oddly aggressive and slightly medical for reasons science should probably investigate.
Also: Don’t over-smoke the rosemary. This is a cocktail, not a forest fire.
