a bourbon based take on a Cuba Libre

The Linebreaker

Break Through the Ordinary

A bold bourbon-based take on the Cuba Libre featuring Tallman 75th Reserve Indiana Straight Bourbon Whiskey, fresh lime, cola, and a smooth caramel finish with just enough bite.

Simple done properly.

Why “The Linebreaker”?

Named after the equipment and crews that clear the path when conditions get rough and the work has to keep moving.

The Linebreaker takes the familiar Cuba Libre and rebuilds it with Tallman 75th Reserve Bourbon for a richer, deeper flavor that still drinks easy.

Reliable. Straightforward. Strong where it counts.

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz Tallman 75th Reserve Indiana Straight Bourbon Whiskey
  • 4 oz Mexican cola
  • 1/2 oz fresh lime juice
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters
  • Ice
  • Lime wedge

Method:

  1. Fill a highball glass with ice.
  2. Add bourbon, fresh lime juice, and bitters.
  3. Top with cold cola.
  4. Stir gently to combine.
  5. Garnish with a lime wedge.

That’s it.

The beauty of this drink is that it doesn’t try to become a chemistry project.

Tallman Tip:

Use Mexican cola if possible.

Real cane sugar gives the drink a cleaner finish and pairs better with bourbon than standard corn syrup cola.

Also: Fresh lime matters. The plastic lime-shaped bottle belongs in the same category as gas station sushi and “temporary fixes.”

What You’ll Taste:

  • Rich caramel bourbon
  • Bright lime citrus
  • Smooth cola sweetness
  • Light baking spice
  • Crisp refreshing finish

Easy-drinking without losing character.

Pairs Well With:

  • Smash burgers
  • BBQ ribs
  • Pretzels and beer cheese
  • Late-night conversations
  • Telling the same outage story for the fourth time because it keeps getting better somehow
